Prof. Mitsutoshi Horii
Principal

Mitsutoshi has served as Principal of Chaucer College since 2022 and is a professor of sociology at Shumei University in Japan. His publications include The Category of “Religion” in Contemporary Japan and “Religion” and “Secular” Categories in Sociology. He is also a co-editor of Method and Theory in the Study of Religion, the official journal of the North American Association for the Study of Religion.

Catherine Hanson
Program Manager/DSL

Catherine joined Chaucer College after a decade in NHS management. With a master’s diploma in Primary Care Management, she ensures high-quality teaching, enriches student culture, and manages business targets with the Sales and Marketing team. Catherine plays a significant role at Chaucer College, balancing numerous duties, and wouldn't have it any other way.

Miles Shuttleworth
Operations Director

Miles has over 20 years of hospitality experience at venues like Wembley Stadium, Royal Ascot, St. James Palace, and Guildhall. Living in Kent since 2008, he managed hotels in Canterbury and Rye before becoming Operations Manager in January 2023. Miles says, "It's been amazing seeing the team go from strength to strength."

Suzanne Lake
HR Manager

Suzanne joined us in June 2024 and brings with her over 30 years’ experience in HR, a dedicated HR professional with a passion for fostering a positive workplace culture and supporting employees to achieve their best in the workplace. Great at building and fostering working relationships and ensuring the values of the organisation are upheld and everyone is treated fairly.

James Norwood is the Finance Manager at Chaucer College, bringing over a decade of experience in financial management and strategic planning. With a keen eye for detail and a strong commitment to fiscal responsibility, James ensures the financial health and sustainability of the college.

Operations and Accommodation Administrator

Jo, who holds a Business degree and a postgrad in Retail Management, joined us in January 2023. She oversees the accommodation department and supports the Operations team, focusing on ensuring students have a comfortable and enjoyable stay.

As Head of Student Services, Sam oversees all activity programs, manages a team of activity leaders, and coordinates exciting trips. He is dedicated to creating a vibrant and engaging experience for students, ensuring they have an unforgettable time at Chaucer College.

Graham Simpson
Catering Manager

Starting his career in the Armed Forces and then moving into fine dining in London, Graham now brings 48 years of expertise to his role as Head of Catering at Chaucer College. He leads a team of 12, aiming to provide students with warm hospitality, diverse culinary choices, and a welcoming environment.
